the 10 minute video:
Please excuse the quality of our video. My wife and I were obviously not thinking about “promoting” our time at the White House. We were just filming for us. But, we thought you’d like to see it.
About a year ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. to speak on an International Adoption Panel during National Adoption Month.
Here I am, just having started Patch Our Planet a few months earlier and I find myself sitting at the White House sharing about how I believe the church is the answer to the orphan crisis. I could literally hear my heart pounding in my ears as I listened to the other panelists.
I thought about all of the influential people in the room. I thought about my wife in the back of the room. I thought about those who believed in Patch Our Planet. And, I didn’t want to let them down. So, I took a deep breath and did the best I could. I thought about what my family had been through with our son. I thought about the courage that my pastor has displayed in times of challenge. I thought about my position as father and the absence of men’s voices in the orphan arena. And, it helped me through.
What I learned that day is that my voice counts.
Yours does too.
Whether you find yourself at the White House, the coffee house, school or the office, your voice counts. The more we speak up for orphans, the more will get done (in churches, in government, etc).
Thank you to all of you who support our efforts and who speak up for children in need.
This is not the time to stop.
Let’s keep going until we END this orphan crisis!
