This past Sunday, June 17th, Father’s Day, I had the privilege to stand alongside my brother who is the pastor at The Chapel in Buffalo, NY.  We teamed up to share about the importance of fatherhood and the Biblical mandate to care for the fatherless.

Patch Our Planet has been partnering with the Chapel since January of this year.  John Camardo is running the “point” for The Chapel and is setting an example in diligence and detail for others to follow.  We spent a good amount of time making sure we were prepared for the day, even spending time together at Saddleback Church in California at the Christian Alliance for Orphans.  You hear from John toward the end of the video as he rolls out the plans for the Every Child ministry.  I hope you will get a chance to listen and take a look at where the Chapel is going with their ministry to foster children.  It has been a privilege to partner with such passionate people.

At first glance, there were about 400 people at the Chapel who expressed interest in being involved in some way.  Wow!  There were also two other churches in the Western NY area who were rolling out their Every Child ministries that same day, as well as several others who were rolling out at a later date.  We hope to share some of their success stories in the near future as well.
Our vision at Patch Our Planet is to see EVERY church in EVERY community caring for EVERY orphan.  This is just one more step in realizing that dream.  Thank you to Pastor Jerry Gillis, Daryl Largis and John Camardo for your lead in this effort.  Each of you are valiant fathers who are speaking up for those who have no one to speak up for them.  May it multiply in New York and across this planet as we turn our eyes to the global need in the days to come.
The Church is the patch.
Overwhelmed,
Steve Gillis
